You’re Never Too Old for Social Networking

I remember the first time someone mentioned Facebook to me. My first thought — that’s for kids. And when I heard about Twitter, I thought — OMG, something else for kids. But what I’ve come to learn over the past several months is that sites like Facebook and Twitter, where I’m now active, are really amazing ways to get in touch and stay in touch with friends, family — and business contacts.

These sites are part of a phenomenon called “social networking” — a great way for those of us in midlife to stay connected, especially when it sometimes seems our personal network is shrinking.

But one picture’s worth a thousand words so take a look at this short video overview on what social networking is all about:

    Karen:

The internet is a great tool for social networking. I am a bit of an intervert … although my closest friends say …Really?…..

A close friend of mine said something to me the other day I found quite amuzing…… “Celeste, if I wanted to meet people over the internet ….. I may as well have dinner with my computer. I love unconditional love. That is unconditional love in it purest form”…..

I enjoy face to face in small groups. Hope this Spring will lead me to that place. All I can do is try.

I “do” all the social networking things. It’s the social networking to socially network that I’m not so sure about. See my latest ByJane post on MidLifeBloggers!

It’s amazing how many of “us” are discovering these avenues of social networking. Just a few months ago I was making fun of Twitter and now I appreciate it. I think midlife women are the fastest growing group on Facebook. Amazing!
