Viral Video Wednesday — Christian the Lion
Posted on 30. Jul, 2008 by Karen in Geek Corner, Misc
This video about Christian the lion has been spreading around the Internet like wildfire. As of this moment, it’s been viewed 7,606,185 times. Several of those times are by yours truly because this is such a touching story.
This morning, the Today Show featured the 2 men who bought Christian as a cub in the late 1960’s and then released him into the wild. The men are now in midlife and Christian probably still isn’t alive. But the video preserves his memory and his love for the young men who were his friends. Grab a Kleenex and watch.

Hi, Karen. I’ve seen this video before and it tugged at my heart once again. Glad to hear it’s legit, with Today Show having aired it with the lion’s owners.
Watching it this time reminded me of my mother, who has Alzheimer’s and no longer lives with us (after 5 years). Although she doesn’t remember exactly who I am when I visit her, she knows when she sees me that there is love connected with me and my touch and it gives her (and me) comfort. The bond of love is still there and always will be.
Thanks for showing us this video…I’m glad we’re connected!

I’m glad we’re connected too, Mary. It’s one of the great things about blogging. I’m also glad you enjoyed the video. It brought tears to my eyes the first time I saw it. And you’re right about love being imprinted in our memories as much as it was in Christian’s.
