My Son’s 33rd Birthday
Posted on 04. Aug, 2008 by Karen in Misc
#1 Son, Chip turned 33 years old yesterday. It really seems like only yesterday that he was this chubby cheeked little boy with curly hair who always had a big grin and ran everywhere. Now he’s a tall, lanky married computer geek who moves at somewhat slower pace. He still has the same great smile though.
As I sit here and absorb this milestone in my son’s life that has overflowed into mine, I remember the day he was born like it was yesterday. It’s a ritual to me to take time every year around his birthday and reflect back to the first time I –
- Looked into his little face
- Heard his cry
- Saw him smile (no it wasn’t gas)
- Counted his fingers and toes to make sure they were all there
- Watched him observe the world and
- Saw him looking back trying to focus his newborn gaze on me.
And as I think about him turning another year older, I give thanks that I had the truly amazing experience of raising a son.
Happy Birthday Chip!

Brooklyn–Yeah, everyone always said my son and I look alike. We tease one another though as to who has the longest nose. I think he may have taken the lead:-)
Wendy–It’s hard to believe sometimes that my little “munchkin” has grown into this really nice man. Whew–someone’s getting old but it can’t be me!

Congratulations to you and your son on his birthday! He does look so much like you but more like your brother since you don’t seem to be old enough to have a 33 year old son. It looks like you have a great relationship.
I have an 18 year old son who also looks alot like me. We have a good relationship and hope that we still do when he is 33!
