Journalists: The New Endangered Species

Do you get news online these days or do you still read the newspaper? You know – that crinkly stuff with the black ink that rubs off on your fingers before you toss it in the trash like yesterday’s news. Oops – that’s exactly what it is. And that’s how journalists are feeling these days.

The move away from paper news is making journalists into the new endangered species-a truly sad state of affairs for a talented segment of our population. But as their jobs disappear, this tongue-in-cheek video suggests how you can help:

Loved the video. Unfortunately, it is true though. Photo journalists such as Linda Solomon, who I believe is (was) with the Birmingham Eccentric, will be missed. Although she has her photography to weather the storm so to speak …. as if she is worried about the storm…..wish I were Linda Solomon…….oh well….just a few words…..Thanks again for the video. It was cute.

I went to dinner last night with friends who either work at the Boston Globe or were laid off from the paper. It’s like a mausoleum at the paper these days. I don’t think the average person even realizes how different the world would be without journalism. The first thing I did today was try to read what the response was to Obama’s speech last night.
