In Memory of Tim Russert

Tim Russert, the favorite political pundit of millions of Americans, including me, died of an apparent heart attack today at the young age of 58. What an incredible tragedy!
According to reports, he collapsed and died at work. He had just gotten back from a family vacation in Italy in celebration of his son’s graduation from college.
If you’ve ever watched Tim on his show “Meet the Press” or reporting on the latest political news, you know he was an accomplished, insightful and charismatic journalist who we Boomers were proud to call one of our own.
Personally I can’t imagine the upcoming conventions and election without Tim Russet’s signature combination of great journalism and the ability to find some humor in it all. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and the NBC team. We were all the better for having him walk among us.

I was so upset when I heard this. I immediately thought of the marker board he used in one election. I then thought how I will miss him this election, and every week, too.

Same here Beverly. I felt like I’d lost a friend. And I remember that whiteboard too–he used it in the 2000 presidential election. It became his trademark. The reporting of politics won’t be the same without him.

I was so saddened. I felt like Tim was one of the few objective, hard-question-asking-but-fair broadcast journalists out there. His presence will be sorely missed during this momentous election year.

Allison–you’re so right about Tim. He was definitely my political commentator of choice and a great person to boot.
