How’s Your Midlife Trip Going?
Posted on 04. Apr, 2008 by Karen in Misc
I’ve started a project collecting stories from people like me on the journey through midlife. I read a quote recently from Jack Canfield, author of the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series that really resonated with me about the importance of stories. He points out that:
Since the days we humans sat around fires in our caves, our brains have been wired for stories — it’s how we make sense of the world.
I’m a natural-born storyteller. Since I was a kid, I’ve used stories to illustrate a point in conversations with friends or later working with clients. I’ve also become one of this generation’s keepers of our family stories, taking the mantle from my dad and grandmother. They’re both gone now but from them I learned a lifetime of lessons about the power of an inspirational story.
I’ve created a new website My Midlife’s A Trip . You can always access this site by clicking the “Share Your Midlife Trip” tab at the top of the page here. I’m still tweaking this new site but it’s a place where you can stop by and share a story here and a story there about what’s going on at this time in your life. If you know someone else who might be interested, please pass this posting along. You can post at My Midlife’s A Trip under your real name or a pseudonym.
Alternatively, if you’d like to share your story confidentially about the good, bad, the ugly and the lessons learned on your midlife trip, contact me through the form on the sidebar of this blog.

What a neat idea. Can’t wait to read the stories. I’ll wait until you come out with your questionairre (sp?) before I put mine up. Nothing too exciting I don’t think.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and adding me in here. Looking forward to reading a lot more from women around my age.
Also found your post on caregiving interesting. As one of the statistics, (caring for an aging mother in our home) I have decided my kids won’t have to worry. I told them if I ever get like my mother (old, bitter and self-centered) they can just shoot me. LOL.

Hi Karen!
Your site is a wonderful piece of the blogosphere! And you are definitely not alone in the world of caregiving – I’m so glad you have delved into it here. It’s a subject so worthy of discussion and information sharing.
And thank you for adding Nanny Goats to your blog roll. I have added yours to mine as well with a little mention in today’s post too! I look forward to sharing this cyber thingy with you!
