How to View Midlife — Is It the New Adolescence?

Posted on 24. Sep, 2007 by Karen in Misc

I’ve been thinking for a while that midlife is a lot like adolescence–that major transition from one phase of life to another.  How you take the trip definitely influences how you come out on the other side.  It certainly did with adolescence and adulthood.

But the more I think about this trip through midlife, the more I realize how strikingly different it really is from adolescence.  And I’m not just talking about the gray hair and menopause.  Here’s how it hits me today.  In adolescence, I just wanted to be like everyone else.  In midlife, I just want to be uniquely me.

Does anyone else feel that way?
