Eau de Down Camp
Posted on 20. Jul, 2008 by Karen in Misc
The green heads are joining our clan this week at Down Camp, our vacation retreat in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Until I got here I had no idea what a green head was.
The green heads are pesky little flies that come out in droves for 3 weeks every summer and feast on tourists like me. Talk about luck — our vacation coincided with the green head annual picnic. These little fellows have a vicious bite that leaves an itchy welt. I know this for a fact because I have 3 on the back of my neck which my sister treated with some vile smelling cream called “Chiggerex”.
To add to the aroma of the Chiggerex, I’ve layered on ”Deep Woods Off” known among the locals to be the best repellant against green heads.
Well you don’t need to tell me twice. I put my lovely lemony summer perfume back in the suitcase and am now wearing heavy applications of Deep Woods Off and Chiggerex. You can smell me coming a mile away. But that’s OK. Everyone here is wearing Eau de Down Camp.
And the green heads hate it.

Just looking at that green head makes me shutter. I HATE bugs! Better to read about it at a distance than experience it.
Have fun!
