Don’t Talk About War No More

Today I got a letter from my local newspaper. "Special Offer" it said–get the paper for the entire week for what you pay for weekend delivery. For a brief moment I considered the deal because I get the paper only on the weekend now. Then I remembered how I’ve hated reading the weekend paper lately because there’s just too much news about war. So do I need to see 7 days of newsprint on war. I think not.
On Sunday, we end service at my church with a song and a prayer that helps me refocus my thoughts from the news of war to peace. Due to my complete lack of musical ability, I won’t even bother trying to record the song here for you . But here are the words:
Let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with me;
Let there be peace on Earth, the peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father–family all are we.
Let me walk with my family in perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment now.
With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow;
To take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally.
Let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with me.
I’m focused on peace today.
