Cranberry Sauce–My Shining Culinary Moment

Posted on 15. Nov, 2007 by Karen in Resources

It’s almost Thanksgiving–the time when I get to shine in the kitchen.  Now lest you think that I am the creator of our entire holiday dinner, let me stop you here.  For the more mundane things like turkey, dressing, macaroni and cheese and the like, my sister does the cooking.  She’s good at it, she does it effortlessly and it tastes great.  But no one, and I mean no one makes cranberry sauce like I do.

My cranberry sauce has become legendary in our family.  They clamor for the wonderfully sweet-tart, chunky thick concoction that has evolved over the years from several recipes I found and tweaked into one.  I always make double because my son insists on taking a huge bowl of cranberry sauce home for leftovers.  He eats all of it–with turkey or without.

By midlife, I’ve gotten so that I cook reasonably well.  With that said, I’m not known in our family as the star of the kitchen.  But I do have a dozen or so recipes that I kick ass on–if I do say so myself.  Cranberry sauce is the shining star in my somewhat small cooking princess crown.

If you’re game for a new taste treat or just curious about my complete lack of modesty on this issue, twist my arm and I’ll share my cranberry sauce recipe with you.  OK, OK–here’s the recipe.  Download cranberry_sauce.doc .  Enjoy.
