Cattitude

This is Bijou — the other half of Bijou and Coco Puff, my 2 cats. This is also Bijou with an attitude, which she has had since her trip to the vet’s earlier this week. You see my cats don’t like to go out of the house — ever. They give new meaning to the word “territorial”. The house is their territory beyond which, in their minds, no cat has gone before. So going to the vet’s is traumatic — an understatement.
My sister came over the morning of the vet appointment to help me get “the girls” in their carriers. I don’t know who was traumatized more–them or those of us chasing them around the house. At one point, I stumbled and fell while in hot pursuit of Bijou, my sister looked like a bullfighter standing with a towel trying to catch the cat and the Peanut, my niece was crying. To tell the truth, at that moment I felt like crying too.
Well long chase short, we finally got the girls secured and off they went to the vet’s. Now I didn’t mention that they are half-sisters and have been around one another since they were kittens. But after a visit to the vet’s they look at one another like “who the [expletive deleted] are you?”
Bijou especially has this lapse in memory. Since I brought them home, this little 6 lb kitty has had bigtime “cattitude”. It’s more that attitude because it includes growling and hissing at her sister. The vet says to rub them with one of those dryer softener sheets so that they both smell the same. Well the way I figure it, they both smelled the same when I brought them home — like vet.
Today I saw small signs of reconciliation. In this picture Puff (on the left) is attempting to make “nice kitty” with Bijou who, to my surprise, didn’t hiss or growl. Maybe we’re just about over the crisis which would be nice so we all don’t have to smell like dryer sheets over the weekend.
Is anyone out there an expert on cattitude?
