Bunny Slippers; My New Dress Code

Posted on 19. Sep, 2007 by Karen in Misc

Last Friday I read Elderblogger Ronni Bennett’s posting on how she dresses for the day as she works from home.  www.timegoesby.net.  I too have changed my dress code now that I work from home.  The days of dressing for success and sporting the latest trends have given way to being all about comfort.

Before I started working from home, I bought a pair of bunny slippers–yeah I know you remember them.  The big slippers with the bunny ears that flop as you walk.  If you’re not in midlife, then you just missed out on this experience.

My vision of working from home as a life coach included working in bunny slippers– sitting at my computer blogging–coaching clients in my headset and the bunnies looking on.  Working at home offered the promise of no one caring what you wear or don’t wear, where “business casual” is truly casual and where no one cares if you have French seams in your pants–whatever those are.

So now I’ve realized my dream of working from home.  I confess though that I don’t wear the Bunnies–they’re more ceremonial.  And to tell the truth, Bijou and Puff, my two cats really freak out and go into attack mode when I put the slippers on.  So the Bunnies sit serenely (and safely) on top of my computer cabinet and gaze approvingly at me as I sit here in comfy clothes and write this blog.  Ain’t midlife grand.
