Blogging Creates a Sense of Community

Posted on 13. Nov, 2007 by Karen in Misc

Here I am a midlife blogger.  Eight months ago I didn’t even know what a blog was.  Now I show up here in the blogosphere on a regular basis and share my thoughts on midlife.  What happened?  What caused the shift for me that allowed me to plug in to blogging?

It’s the sense of community that I find here.  Oh I don’t see your faces, but I hear you–reading about my experiences in midlife and pondering your own.  Whether you post a comment or not, I know that wherever you are on your midlife trip, it helps to know that you’re not alone.

Remember the days when we used to say "he’s a trip", "she’s a trip", "that’s a trip".  Calling someone or something a "trip" was how we used to denote its significance in our lives.  And here we are years later feeling the impact and the significance of this monumental trip–the one through midlife.

For me, some days on my trip are good, some days not so good–but always a trip.  As I come out here to blog though and make this virtual connection with you, any day on my midlife trip becomes a better one.  So if I forget to say thank you for being out there–I’m saying it now.  Thanks for being part of my community.
